This year, BCSTA is offering up to three scholarships of $500 each to graduating public-school students who have shown exemplary citizenship in their school and community.

These scholarships reflect BCSTA’s commitment to its values that:

  • focus on students
  • support lifelong learning
  • support public education
  • recognize the importance of community in public education
  • provide opportunities to recognize and celebrate public education

In 2019, BCSTA awarded a single scholarship in the amount of $1,500 in honour of the late Jean Ciriani, a former communications director for the association. Flora Zhi is currently studying at the University of British Columbia and is hoping to complete a double major in English and linguistics.

“Through the assistance from the scholarship, I have been able to kickstart my academic dreams with less financial burden,” said Zhi.” As I continue with my education, I will remember the opportunities that were made possible through this scholarship and continue to work hard towards my career and educational goals.” We wish Zhi all the best as she continues her education journey.

The application deadline is Monday, March 2, 2020.
