Program Description
The Canadian School Boards Association (CSBA) 2026 Trustee Gathering on Education, Innovation and Reconciliation is Canada’s premier K-12 public education gathering, bringing together leaders and decision-makers from across Canada’s K-12 public education systems.
School trustees, senior district leaders, Indigenous rights holders and knowledge keepers, and education and corporate partners will join us in beautiful Whistler, BC, for three days of exceptional learning, deep connection, and collective leadership.
This national gathering includes:
The ongoing commitment to Truth and Reconciliation by embedding First Nations and Métis content
- Honouring the lands of the host nations, the Lil̓wat7úl (Lil’wat) and Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) First Nations and including perspectives and knowledge from First Nations and Métis people from across British Columbia.
A commitment to supporting boards of education in their governance work, which includes sessions on:
- Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
- Student Success
- Leadership
- Emerging issues such as Artificial Intelligence & Climate Change
The CSBA gathering brings together Elders, educators, and thought leaders from across Canada for a powerful national learning event grounded in collaboration, reconciliation, and shared responsibility. This year’s conference creates a space for participants to walk together—honouring Indigenous knowledge systems and governance traditions—while moving forward with integrity, vision, and a commitment to public education. Through keynote presentations, land-based learning, Indigenous-led sessions, purposeful networking and dialogue on emerging issues, we will explore how strong, inclusive governance can transform systems, deepen relationships, and create equitable opportunities for every learner.

Are you passionate about strengthening public education governance? The Canadian School Boards Association invites experienced educators, trustees, administrators, and thought leaders to present at the 2026 Trustee Gathering in Whistler, BC.
We’re seeking dynamic, interactive workshop proposals that address the critical work of boards of education – from governance and equity to community relations, advocacy, and reconciliation. Your session could help shape the future of public education across Canada while connecting you with fellow leaders committed to transformational change.
