The British Columbia School Trustees Association
The British Columbia School Trustees Association (BCSTA) champions good governance practices among school boards through exceptional professional development and province-wide advocacy, all dedicated to ensuring the success of every student across British Columbia. As the sole nonpartisan organization representing democratically and locally elected boards of education, BCSTA has been a steadfast champion for
good governance in public education for 120 years.
Public education matters to us, and we know it matters to you too.
Boards of education across B.C. are thankful to live, work and learn on traditional territories across the province. BCSTA is committed to reconciliation as we support our members in this work.
The BCSTA knows that:
A high-quality public education system is the foundation of a strong democracy
Improving student achievement is the key work of locally elected boards of education
The interests of B.C. students are best met through local decision-making with an engaged community
A strong and unified voice for boards of education throughout the province is key to the success of the public education system
Through their unique role as governors of their local education system, boards create vibrant learning environments where students can thrive and reach their full potential
